A California native, Vishal grew up in California and went to college at UC Berkeley (Go Bears!). Vishal thrives on challenges and works in the highly creative and competitive video-gaming industry in Redwood City. At the crack of dawn, Vishal can be found training for yet another marathon along the seashores of San Francisco. Don't be fooled by Vishal's soft-spoken nature. His quiet confidence and positive energy motivate our team to work our hardest and do our best. Vishal is excited to host MAIYTRA 2008 in his hometown and hopes to see it successfully through to the finish line.

Performance Chair
A California native as well, Neil grew up in Saratoga and went to college in LA. Don't let his casual appearance and laid back attitude fool you. Neil is an Index Trader and runs a Hedge Fund business from home. Neil is passionate about music and an all-star drummer. As a matter of fact, he plays several instruments, records his own music and owns a gigantic CD collection. He is excited to show off some unique performance pieces this year and hopes that you will leave the convention sharing his love for San Francisco.

Aarati Soman
Fund Raising Chair
Aarati was born in India and raised in Hong Kong. She went to college in Philly and now works at a Private Equity firm in downtown San Francisco. When she isn't on conference calls with tech CEO's or staring at excel spreadsheets, she can be found designing people's apartments, painting, or singing her favorite old Asha tune. A true artist at heart, Aarati always brings a dosage of fun light-heartedness to the table, which is critical in allowing us to maintain our sanity. She is hoping that her fundraising efforts will make this year's convention a memorable one.

Our multi-talented Registration Chair and Webmaster is also a California native. He grew up in India and San Jose and went to college at Berkeley (we can't get enough of 'em!). Samir is our resident techie and works at Informatica in downtown San Francisco. Samir's work doesn't stop him from jumping on a plane on any given weekend and exploring a new part of the world. As an avid traveller, you may find him in a remote locale, admiring local art and cuisine. If he isn't on a plane, he may be on a sail boat, fighting the strong gusts of wind along the harbor of San Francisco. Samir is excited to see some new faces at the convention and hopes that you are enjoying browsing through the MAIYTRA 2008 website.

Amruta Gadgil
Marketing Chair
Amruta is a Chicago native. She went to college out there and moved over to San Francisco quite recently. She has wasted no time before diving head first into the Bay Area Maharashtrian community and eagerly getting involved in different ways. Amruta's energy and enthusiasm are contagious and leave those around her with an invigorating drive to succeed. Amruta can often be found singing and dancing around her home. Her unique and modern marketing techniques make her perfect for the job and will no doubt allow her to reach out to various communities in interesting ways. Amruta hopes that her marketing efforts will drive an unprecedented number of youth (including you!) to San Francisco this 4th of July.
